Manson has an industry-wide reputation for masterminding the best bits and parodies in the radio business. He possesses an amazing blend of exceptional singer/songwriter skills, a quick wit, and a deep knowledge of pop culture and current events, all of which he combines into creating extraordinary and timely satire material. He can also do a tremendous array of spot-on voice impersonations, from President Bill Clinton to “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Because of Manson, the Bubba the Love Sponge® Show consistently contains parody and comedy elements that can’t be matched.
Manson (Mike Waters) first met Bubba in the early 1990s when he worked for WFLZ-FM (93 The Power Pig) in Tampa, Florida as a morning show comedy writer for MJ Kelly. Since MJ wouldn’t play his bits, he started giving them to Bubba to play during Bubba’s night show (1992-1996). Bubba vowed that if he ever got a new morning show, that he wanted Manson to work with him. Manson then accepted the opportunity to do his own show in the Quad Cities, Iowa, but his material was considered too hot, and he was fired after 8 months. At the same time, Bubba was negotiating his new morning radio show at WXTB-FM/Tampa (1996-2004), for which Manson moved back to Tampa and has been with Bubba ever since.
Since mid-2006, Manson has been co-host and producer for the Bubba the Love Sponge® Show on Sirius Satellite Radio channel Howard 101, from 3 pm to 7 pm ET Mon-Thurs and 10 am to 2 pm ET Friday. Since January 2008, the show has been syndicated to terrestrial radio stations, and has been the #1 rated morning show in the Tampa-Clearwater-St. Petersburg market.
Manson and his wife, Donna, and their children reside in the Tampa Bay area.
