CRI Drivers Finish 1 & 2 in Smyrna

April 14th, 2009 by admin

New Smyrna, FL – The boy’s of Clem Racing, Inc. scored yet another 2-3 finish in the super competitive world of Florida quarter-midget racing Friday night at the New Smyrna Speedway.

Teammates Michael Atwell and Tyler Clem showed tremendous heart and courage as they each fought through adversity to finish second and third in the JR Honda Division. Due to a thrown chain, Michael started last in his heat race, but quickly worked his way through the eight-car field to score a second-place finish and a starting spot in the ‘A’ Main. Picking off racecars one by one, Michael showcased the talent that has scored him numerous feature wins all season long.

Michael’s teammate Tyler Clem led the race after a brilliant pass on the leader in turn three. Tyler led for a handful of laps before his racecar tightened up, causing the six-year old to slow just enough to allow Atwell and another driver by on the inside. Tyler still hung on for a third-place finish and a straight shot to the ‘A’ Main.

In the ‘A’ Main, Tyler started third with his teammate Michael on his rear bumper in the fifth position. After twenty hard fought laps at one of the toughest quarter-midget racetracks in the country, the two Clem Racing, Inc. drivers came home in the second and third positions. Michael finished second, and was chasing down the leader as the checkered flag flew with Tyler hot on his bumper. Both drivers dug in and fought hard every lap of the race, and left the New Smyrna Speedway grinning from ear to ear.

Overall, it was a fantastic evening for the Clem Racing, Inc. duo of Clem and Atwell. Clem Racing, Inc. would like to thank all of the sponsors that make racing possible for Tyler and Michael. K&N Air Filters, Bell Helmets, Oakley, World Wide Bearings, Supreme Protein Bars, Leaf, BR Motorsports, Hoosier Tires, Douglas Technologies, Zero Error Racing, JD Adams Drilling, and Tanner Shocks. Thank you so much!

You can check out Tyler and Michael at the Tampa Ambassador Speedway the weekend of October 24th when the duo lines up for another battle against the best quarter-midget racers in Florida. Last month, Tyler and Michael shattered the track records at Tampa, and both drivers are looking forward to returning to the legendary racetrack. – John ‘Captain Thunder’ Nevins of www.CaptainThunderRacing.com for Clem Racing, Inc.
