It has come to my attention there are proposed budget cuts in seven counties for Sheriff's Child Protection Programs. While I can appreciate the budget crisis in our state, and the tough position you are in, this is an area that cannot be sacrificed. The protection of our children has to be your top priority. I must urge you in the strongest possible terms to reconsider this course of action, do the right thing and continue to fund the Sheriff's Child Protection Programs. Please find another area of the budget to cut. Our children and families are counting on you.
