Two sought after illegal ‘butt injection’ death in Texas
(WFAA.COM) DALLAS, Texas – Police have issued arrest warrants for two people for practicing medicine without a license in connection to the death of a woman who police say received injections of a substance in her buttocks in a botched cosmetic procedure.
On February 19, 34-year-old Wykesha Reid was found dead inside of a business that performs eyelash extensions in the 3800 block of East Side Avenue by a 31-year-old named Jimmy Joe Clarke, also known as “Alicia,” who lives as a transgender woman. Upon finding the body at 7:50 am., Clarke called 911.
Clarke told police that Reid had come to the business the previous day at about 5:30 pm. and said “she was not well and wanted to lay down.” Clarke said she locked Reid in the business overnight and when she returned in the morning, Reid was dead and she told police she did not know what happened to Reid.
At the scene, detectives found Reid laying on her back on top of a massage table with her pants partially pulled down and bloody gauze on her buttocks.
A Dallas police detective then went to notify Keira Reid of her mother’s death. Keira Reid told police her mother had left home the night before and was going to have “butt injections,” and that she believed a woman named “Wee Wee” and a transgender person performed the injections.
Her family told News 8 Wykesha Reid was feeling fine as she left the night before.
Detectives then located a witness who said at 1:11 am. on February 19 as he was parking his car, he witnessed a pickup truck driving erratically before parking next to the curb. The truck he described could be Wykesha Reid’s.
Detectives met again with Clarke, who admitted to driving Reid’s truck, but said it was at 8 pm. the previous day, not 1:11 am.
The witness who saw the truck correctly identified Clarke as the person who got out of the truck in a photo lineup.
Another witness, who works at the eyelash extension business, told detectives her boyfriend rented the business in the 3800 block of East Side Avenue to Clarke and a woman by the name of “Wee Wee,” and that the two performed butt injections.
That same witness told police she was performing an eyelash extension around 5 pm. on Feb. 19 when Denise Rochelle “Wee Wee” Ross, 43, and Clarke arrived at the location and asked her and her client to leave, possibly to perform a butt injection.
The eyelash salon employee told police she later received a call from Ross telling her “not to break” and to say she did not see Ross at the business.
While at the business, detectives noticed it appeared the location had been cleaned. There was nothing in the refrigerator, the trash cans were missing, and the “overall appearance was not consistent with daily business activity.”
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office said they found a silicone-type substance and fresh injection marks on Wykesha Reid’s buttocks.
Police believe Reid had a medical emergency while the injections were being performed and subsequently died.
According to police warrants, in another incident, a 27-year-old woman made an appointment for the injections with a person she knew only as “Wee Wee” and agreed to pay $520 for her first session.
On February 9, the woman went to an address in the 3800 block of East Side Avenue and was taken into a back room by Clarke.
The woman told police Clarke told her to remove her pants and get on a massage table; then she attempted to ask questions about the procedure — such as, what was in the injections — but “was not given a good explanation,” the documents say. The client said Clarke and Ross sanitized her buttocks and began the injections.
The woman said she was injected with a total of seven syringes that were left in for the duration of the procedure, and that she “felt intense pain and was told to be quiet after screaming in agony.” The injection holes were closed with Super Glue and cotton balls.
The victim later correctly identified Clarke and Ross in a photo lineup.
