Two dead, three injured in Sarasota lounge shooting

Deputies arrived at Kay's Lounge just before 1:30 am Sunday in response to a shots fired call.

(BTLS Staff) SARASOTA – Two people were killed and three others injured early Sunday when a shooting broke out at a Sarasota lounge.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 am at Kay’s Lounge located in the 4000 block of South Washington Blvd.

According to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office report deputies found three of the victims inside the establishment when they arrived. The deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Todd L. Thompson of Bradenton and 26-year-old Vincent E. Dipina of Sarasota.

Thompson and Dipina were airlifted by helicopter to Blake Medical Center where they were pronounced dead. Takila S. Hayes, 26, suffered a gunshot wound and drove herself to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Her injury is not considered life threatening the report states. Terrell J. Harris, 23, and another person also suffered non life-threatening injuries. The unidentified victim was hurt by broken glass while attempting to assist the other injured patrons.

No suspects have been identified at this time as the investigation continues.
