Texas educator arrested for having sex with student
(KENS5.COM) SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A former teacher was arrested on a warrant for sexual assault of a child, according to the arrest warrant.
Maris Gonzalez, 23, was arrested Friday after she was caught in a car engaging in a sex act with a 15-year-old boy.
The arrest warrant states an officer was responding to a burglar alarm in the area of Raintree Bend and Raintree Run when he noticed a car with the window’s fogged up. The officer found Gonzalez in the car partially clothed, with the young boy.
Gonzalez told the officer she had recently resigned as a teacher due to being accused of an inappropriate relationship with the teen, according to the arrest warrant. .
NEISD spokeswoman Aubrey Chancellor confirmed she was a former French teacher at Madison and Churchill High School. The spokesperson confirmed allegations were brought forth after inappropriate messages were found on the teen’s phone. Gonzalez denied a relationship with the teen and said it was just texting.
“A teacher knows there are lines that are not supposed to be crossed, and from looking at the phone records in this particular case, those lines were certainly crossed in a way of lengthy phone conversations in the middle of the night, and text messages, text messages that were not appropriate,” said Chancellor.
The spokesperson confirmed the teacher was placed on administrative leave and later resigned on December 9.
She later admitted to officer’s to being involved in sexual intercourse with the teen for the past few weeks, according to the arrest warrant.
Sexual assault of a child is a felony offense.
