(BTLS Staff) TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Wednesday its first-ever alliance with a daily fantasy sports website.

The National Football League franchise is teaming up with FanDuel, an agreement that runs through the 2017 season. The Bucs will feature the leader in one-day fantasy sports on its official website and in the team’s TV and radio broadcasts.

“We are thrilled to enter into this partnership with FanDuel that will offer new and exciting ways to enjoy being a football fan,” explained Tampa Bay’s Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford. “FanDuel has established itself as the nation’s most popular daily fantasy sports website and we look forward to tapping into their unique platform to enhance our fan experience.”

As part of the sponsorship, FanDuel will offer unique hospitality experiences for users through free-to-enter games, as well as sponsoring fantasy football statistics and content every week. Those stats will appear on the Bucs’ website.

Officials with the fantasy sports league are equally excited about the agreement.

“FanDuel has partnered with the Buccaneers to create never before opportunities for fans, like chances to win tickets to VIP events at the Bucs facility,” added FanDuel CEO Nigel Eccles. “The Buccaneers are a fantastic organization and everyone here is excited to work with the Bucs to engage their fan base throughout the season and work closely with a stellar franchise.”

Since 2009 FanDuel has taken the one-day fantasy sports concept from launch to paying out over $10 million in prizes every week, and growing.

Based in New York City with an office in Edinburgh, Scotland, FanDuel is venture backed and has raised $88 million in funding to date from investors including Shamrock Capital, NBC Sports Ventures, KKR, Comcast Ventures, Pentech Ventures, Piton Capital and Bullpen Capital.
