Suspect breaks into Port Charlotte Verizon store

The suspect drove up to the business in this vehicle. He pried open the front door to gain access.
(BTLS Staff) PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Investigators in Port Charlotte are gathering evidence in the weekend burglary of a Verizon store on Tamiami Trail.

The incident occurred late Saturday or early Sunday morning at the business.

According to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office report an employee arrived at work to discover the front door had been forced open. He immediately called 9-1-1 for assistance.

Detectives pulled surveillance video and discovered a silver colored Mercedes GL series Sports Utility Vehicle drove up to the store just after 11 pm. A man wearing dark clothing got out, pried open the door and entered the business.

The unidentified suspect remained inside for several minutes before escaping through a back door. If you have any information about this incident, please contact the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at 941-639-2101.
