Woman dies after leaning out of truck, hitting head on mailbox

CLEARWATER — A 20-year-old Ocala woman was killed early this morning when she apparently struck her head on a mailbox while leaning out the window of a moving truck.
Angela Gaskin was pronounced dead at Northside Hospital around 1 a.m. after being brought to the emergency room by Karl Norman Jeckel, 24, of Clearwater.
Jeckel told police that Gaskin had suffered head injuries while extending out of his 2005 Chevrolet near his home in the 4600 block of Lake Boulevard. Pinellas Park Police said an initial search of the scene supports his story.
The couple had been recently living together, according to police. Traffic homicide investigators are continuing the investigation.
