For all the ladies out there dissatisfied with the quality of their porn, Susan Sarandon is coming to the rescue.

According to The Guardian, Sarandon told The Times that she is interested in directing female-friendly adult films when she retires from acting – although it’s difficult to tell how serious she was about the comments.

“I have threatened, in my 80s, to direct porn,” she reportedly told the newspaper from the Cannes Film Festival. “I haven’t watched enough to know what the problems are. Most pornography is brutal and doesn’t look pleasurable from a female point of view. So I’ve been saying that when I no longer want to act, I want to do that.”

While she’s admittedly inexperienced in the nuances of directing a porno, Sarandon said she has played a part in improving her own onscreen sex scenes over the years.

Sarandon pointed to Tony Scott’s 1983 vampire film, The Hunger, as an example, citing a particular scene between herself and Catherine Deneuve.

“It was Tony Scott’s first film and I intervened in the script,” she explained. “First of all it was written that I was drunk and I said, ‘Seriously? You have to be drunk to get into bed with Catherine Deneuve? I don’t think so. Isn’t it more interesting if it is voluntary?’ ”

Sarandon noted that a common problem with sex scenes in the lack of attention paid to the events leading up to the act.

“A lot of people know what’s in the middle,” she explained. “But what makes a sex act really interesting is how that first touch happens, how that first kiss comes, so in The Hunger Tony allowed me to come up with an idea about the T-shirt and then the kiss. Those moments need to be looked at.”
