Severed Human Remains Found In Sutter County

SUTTER COUNTY – Sutter County Sheriff’s detectives have a disturbing mystery to solve after two severed arms and a human head were discovered near Beer Can Beach over the weekend.

The body parts were found along the Feather River near Garden Highway and Lee Road, the same place where a human leg was found back in November. And now FOX40 News has learned, a floating torso was reported to sheriff’s deputies back in December.

A local resident who identified himself as George “Smith” said he spotted the torso near his floating dock, “I didn’t want to believe what I was seeing. It turned out to be, in my opinion, a human torso. I know that because I got close enough to see two butt cheeks and a butt crack.”

According to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department, two fishermen found the two severed arms along the river’s edge, Saturday evening. Deputies secured the scene overnight and re-searched the area Sunday morning. That’s when the human head was discovered in some berry bushes about six feet uphill from where the arms were discovered.

According to Lt. Butah Uppal with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department, the severed parts discovered over the weekend showed signs of decomposition and “animal activity.” He said the face was unrecognizable but there’s a chance fingerprints can be retrieved from the hands, helping them to identify the remains. A forensic exam indicates a white male over the age of 45 may be involved.

It’s now possible this is a homicide case. The case of the severed leg in November was never solved. The possible torso spotted in December was never recovered from the water. DNA will determine if all of the body parts are connected to one set of remains.
