Saturday Night Live with Betty White -best ratings in 18 months

May 11th, 2010 by – The May 8, 2010 telecast of “Saturday Night Live” featuring host Betty White and musical guest Jay-Z garnered great ratings, according to a May 9 press release from NBC. The show also featured appearances from SNL alums Rachel Dratch, Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Molly Shannon.

It seems that 88+ year old Betty White revitalized the live comedy show with her excellent comic timing as she fired naughty zingers with a sweet smile on her face. White’s wicked sense of humor is often surprising because in contradicts her innocent look.

The telecast hosted by Betty White and featuring musical guest Jay-Z” averaged an 8.8 household rating, 21 share in the metered markets, which was the highest highest for SNL since November 1, 2008. The 2008 rating winner was hosted by Ben Affleck with musical guest David Cook and guest appearances by Republican Presidential nominee Senator John McCain and Tina Fey as Governor Sarah Palin just prior to the 2008 presidential election).

“Saturday Night Live” was the #1 telecast of May 8, topping all primetime programs on all major networks in metered-market results. In households, “SNL” doubled the #1 telecast in primetime, ABC’s coverage of the NBA Playoffs (4.4/8 in the metered markets).
