Rent Is Too Damn High candidate steals show at N.Y. gubernatorial debate

Source: freep — In what the New York Times today called “political theater verging on farce,” the candidates for New York governor squared off in a debate last night, highlighted by a hirsute candidate from the Rent Is Too Damn High Party.

(Not kidding.)

Jimmy McMillan stole the show from what was expected to be a showdown between Republican Carl Paladino and front-runner Democrat Andrew M. Cuomo.

“As a karate expert, I will not talk about anyone up here,” McMillan, wearing black gloves, said. “Because our children can’t afford to live anywhere. Nowhere. There’s nowhere to go.

“Once again, why?” (Pause … the audience begins to respond.)

“You said it. The rent is too damn high.”

And on gay marriage: “If you want to marry a shoe, I’ll marry you.”
I can already hear Kenan Thompson readying his impression for this week’s “Saturday Night Live.”
