Rays stadium committee ready to report findings

ST. PETERSBURG - The task force studying the need for a new baseball stadium is now ready to go public.

The coalition wants to present its findings to the St. Pete City Council and Pinellas County Commission and Tourism Development Council.

In a nutshell, the task force says baseball is an economic driver worth keeping. Tropicana Field needs replacing sooner rather than later, and more centrally-located sites would be in the Carillon area on the Pinellas side or downtown Tampa or the West Shore area in Hillsborough.
