Polk City grave sites desecrated with human remains left out in the open

POLK CITY, Fla. – All Geraldine Mcafee could do was lean on her faith after hearing vandals desecrated several gravesites at Old Platt Cemetery in Polk City, the final resting place of her great grandparents, Florine and Charles Harvey.

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” said Mcafee.

Cemetery maintenance man Horace Kinsler said when he arrived to work this morning he noticed a couple gravesites had been ripped open.

“They left the bones outside of the casket and they were everywhere so we called police,” said Kinsler.

He said two weeks ago two other graves were found in similar condition. Overturned tombstones were scattered through the graveyard as well as caskets left wide open. Though the Sheriff’s office hasn’t talked about motive yet the community is talking.

“A lot of em’ are looking for money old rings and anything they can find,” said Mike Davis the cemetery caretaker.

But Mcafee had another opinion. She said, “Witchcraft or voodoo. This world is so mixed up now people are into everything but the right thing.”

The resting place for Mcafee’s great grandparents was left untouched, but she is shaken by what happened less than a mile from her house, but whoever turned Old Platt Cemetery into a place of unrest will surely pay.

“If you sow good you’ll reap good and if you sow wickedness thats what you’ll reap,” said Mcafee.
