Platteville Police Officer Arrested on Federal Drug Charges

PLATTEVILLE, WI - A five-and-a-half year veteran of the Platteville Police Department is facing federal drug charges.

The Dubuque Telegraph-Herald reports that Michelle Salentine, 28, of Platteville, was arrested Monday night when she arrived for work at the Platteville Police Department.

The arrest came after the F.B.I. executed search warrants and discovered drug paraphernalia. In an affidavit, the FBI stated that a witness said he saw Salentine smoke crack cocaine on at least six occasions, including when she was in uniform and armed as a police officer.

“We are very, very disappointed,” Platteville Police Chief Doug McKinley told the Telegraph-Herald. “And we will, with due diligence, look into the matter when we have all of the relevant materials in our hands.”

Salentine made her initial appearance Tuesday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Madison.

These people are supposed to be protecting us but look at this, I live in a small town and we have this problem too. The other problem in this town is that they also beat children, grow pot and who knows what else but they always point the finger at someone else in this county
