PALM HARBOR, Fla - A Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries in a car accident in Palm Harbor Sunday afternoon.

Investigators say Lt. Richard Nalven was turning left onto Sandy Point Boulevard from East Lake Road around 2:40 p.m.

At the same time 17-year-old Zackary Houck was also turning left from the other turn lane, when he lost traction and his car slid into Nalven’s cruiser.

Nalven was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital where he was treated and released. Houck wasn’t hurt, and was cited for failure to use due care.

Investigators say wet roads appear to be a factor in the crash.
