Original Story:

A teenager is dead after witnesses say another teen ran him over, and dragged him down a road.

The Tuscola County Sheriff says 16 year old Zachary Harp, a student at Owendale-Gagetown High School, was taken by helicopter to Hurley Medical Center in Flint around 4:00 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators believe the teen was dragged after getting into a fight with a 17 year old man from Unionville at a party at a home on the 6000 block of Elizabeth Street in Gagetown. Authorities believe the suspect ran over Harp with is car, and dragged his body for almost a block.

The Sheriff’s Department reports someone tried to step in and help, but was also hit. “When another person ran to the victim’s aid, the car came through again and struck them, causing minor injuries to the other person,” Undersheriff Glen Skrent reports in a press release.

Harp died at the hospital just before 4:00 a.m.

The suspect and other people who were at the party fled when police arrived. Police were able to track down the suspect and arrest him. He will be charged with murder.

An autopsy will be done, and the crime remains under investigation.
