Oklahoma Passes Two Laws Intended to Curb Abortions

http://online.wsj.com – Oklahoma’s legislature on Tuesday overrode the governor’s veto to pass two laws aimed at curbing abortions, at a time when several other abortion-related measures are moving forward at the state level.

One of the Oklahoma measures requires women seeking abortions to have an ultrasound exam and the other bars certain damage awards against doctors facing so-called wrongful life or wrongful birth lawsuits. These suits could allege that a physician withheld facts or provided inaccurate information about a pregnancy that might otherwise have been aborted.
