At the annual Correspondents’ White House Association Dinner, politicians, political journalists and celebrities got a taste of how sticky comedy can get, leaving attendees quite uncomfortable at some points. The jokers were the commander-in-chief himself, President Obama, and the famously cynical Wanda Sykes.

Obama was the first to crack jokes at the black-tie event that is normally light-heartedly amusing, and made a point to slam members of his administration and guests without hesitation.

“I am Barack Obama. Most of you covered me. All of you voted for me. Apologies to the Fox table,” reports Politico.com

In the beginning of his 17 minute stand-up act, Obama immediately took notice to his most outspoken critic, black GOP Representative Michael Steele, who labeled the president “The Magic Negro” and often appears envious of Obama’s rapid political ascension.

“Michael Steele is in the house tonight. Or as he would say, ‘in the heezy.’ What’s up? (Laughter.) Where is Michael? Michael, for the last time, the Republican Party does not qualify for a bailout. Rush Limbaugh does not count as a troubled asset, I’m sorry.”

The president also spoke about the rivalry he and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton shared but insists that “these days, we could not be closer.” He joked, “in fact, the second she got back from Mexico she pulled me into a hug and gave me a big kiss. Told me I’d better get down there myself.”

The president also took a jab at former Vice president Dick Cheny, leaving the parts of the audience tight-lipped and others trying to conceal laughter. “Dick Cheney was supposed to be here but he is very busy working on his memoirs, tentatively titled, ‘How to Shoot Friends and Interrogate People,’” he laughed.

?People love you ? even the media. You guys have been favorable towards the president. You know, it?s funny to me that they never caught you smoking, but they always catch you with your shirt off. Now, I know you?re into this transparency thing, but, uh, I don?t need to see your nipples. Is there a beach at Camp David? What the hell? You don?t have no nipple portrait of Lincoln.?

?She has beautiful arms. Some of the previous first ladies ? they needed the sleeves. Some of them needed the ponchos,” she said. “I didn?t name any names! But you do no need to keep your arms to yourself sometimes. You went over to London, touching the queen. You can?t do that! You?re over there patting the queen on the back like she just slid into home plate. ?Way to go, Queen!??

But once Sykes finished roasting the Obamas, she took to some meatier targets.

“Mr. President . . . you’ve had your fair share of critics. … Rush Limbaugh, one of your big critics, boy ? Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails. So you?re saying. To me, that?s treason. He?s not saying anything differently than Osama bin Laden is saying. You know you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight.”

The audience gasped and and appeared unsure if laughing was appropriate. Sykes took notice and asked “too much?” She added, ?You?re laughing inside, I know you?re laughing.”

The $200 per ticket dinner raised $98,000 worth of proceeds which will be donated to a feed the hungry charity and journalism scholarship.

this is so refreshing. obama is just one of the boys sitting around telling jokes. he is so down to earth. i like when him and joey b went to get hamburgers last week and when the prez went to the wizards game and talked to the fans.

I am not impressed. I do not want to hear white jokes any more than a black person does. I feel the administration, and their friends are damaging what has been done for equality by insisting that white are prejudiced!!!!!not even as strong as the black against whites!

This is the result of an entire nation of ultra ignorant, simple minded, souless, dumb asses breeding future

Obama is just one of us. He is so cool and so smooth I just would like to have some beers with the dude. I am glad that he is in charge now and the errors from the last eight years will be corrected.

why does everything have to be contrived as being racist… can’t we just laugh at eachother, because we ALL know that every race has it’s own thing that the others don’t understand… LAUGH IT OFF PEOPLE! Stupid Americans so uptight with your ass cheeks clenched so tight you can’t laugh because all the shit you keep bottled up would come exploding out!! :)
