Newlywed Accused Of Hiring Hit Man To Kill Hubby

August 6th, 2009 by

BOYNTON BEACH (CBS4) ―A Boynton Beach woman was apparently trying to rush the ’til death do us part’ part of her wedding vows; she was arrested Tuesday for allegedly hiring a hit man to kill her husband of six months.

It turns out the hit man was an undercover police officer, her husband is fine and a police video camera was rolling when investigators staged the crime scene and told the newlywed her husband was dead.

Boynton Beach police said last Friday they received a tip from a confidential informant that Dalia Dippolito, 26, was allegedly looking for someone to kill her 38-year-old husband Michael.

Investigators arranged for their confidential informant to meet with her the following day at a Mobil gas station on Gateway Boulevard to finalize the arrangements. During their conversation, Dippolito reportedly gave the confidential informant $12-hundred dollars for the hit man to buy a gun; she also gave him pictures of her husband and their home. Dippolito also allegedly wanted to know when it would take place so she could arrange to be at a hair appointment and thus have a credible alibi.

Dippolito met with an undercover Boynton Beach police officer who pretended to be the hired ‘hit man’ on Monday; the two met in the parking lot of a CVS drug store. When the ‘hit man’ asked Dippolito if she really wanted to go through with this, she reportedly laughed and said she’d be very happy once it was done. She then allegedly agreed to pay him $3,000 for the murder.

Tuesday morning, Dippolito got a phone call at the gym from the Boynton Beach police. She rushed home to find her townhouse encased in crime scene tape and a crime scene tech dusting her front door for fingerprints. A police video camera recorded the action as a detective then escorted her to a waiting sergeant who broke the news that her husband had been killed. Dippolito collapsed into the sergeant’s arms and sobbed. The staged crime scene and Dippolitos reaction was all captured on video.

Police said she was then taken to the police department where she came face to face with the man who she was told had shot her husband twice in the head. Investigators then revealed the truth – the ‘hit man’ was a cop and her husband was alive and well in the next room.

Dippolito, who was charged with solicitation to commit first degree, is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail.
