Man Leads Police On High-Speed Chase After Assaulting Officer

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A man in his 50s was accused of assaulting a police officer Sunday night in Kansas City, Mo., and leading police on a high-speed chase into Kansas City, Kan.

Police said the chase started near 9 Highway and 169 Highway when Kansas City, Mo., police officers pulled the man over for speeding. Police said the man assaulted a police officer during the traffic stop, got into his vehicle and drove away.

Police chased the man at speeds as high as 90 miles per hour on Interstate 70 from Kansas City, Mo., into Kansas City, Kan., where the man exited the highway at 18th Street Expressway.

From there police said they were able to blow out the man’s tires after he drove the wrong direction down 18th Street Expressway and struck another vehicle.

The man led police on a short foot chase before he was captured.

The suspect has not been identified by police.
