Man injured after homemade bomb goes off

A man who was making a smoke bomb was hurt when it went off Sunday afternoon in Holly Hill. And the explosion shut down part of his neighborhood for more than an hour.

Scott Lemansky, 43, was severly hurt in the blast. Volusia County Hazmat teams and the bomb squad were called out to Walker Street after the smoke bomb went off.

The state fire marshall’s office is looking investigating why Lemansky was mixing chemicals and making a bomb.
