Man Indicted For Impregnating Young Girl

LORAIN, Ohio — Gary Daniels Sr., 64, is in jail Friday night after police said that he supposedly raped and impregnated a 12-year-old who lived in the area.
The home was broken up into apartments with several children living upstairs, ONN’s Cristin Severance reported.

“It’s a weird type of emotion. Sometimes I don’t lock my door, I’m like oh my god, he could have come up here and done anything to any of us,” said a neighbor of Daniels.

Police said that Daniels was friends with the victim’s family.

The victim’s mother called police when she realized that her 12-year-old daughter was pregnant and told detectives that Daniels was the father.

The girl and her family decided to terminate the pregnancy and cops used DNA to link Daniels to the crime.

“He denied being involved sexually with this girl, but there was a positive DNA match that he had fathered this child,” said Det. Sgt. Mark Carpentiere.

Police said that because of the girl’s age it is an automatic rape charge, Severance reported.

Carpentiere told ONN that in 2009 Daniels was arrested and accused of touching a 13-year-old and 15-year-old girl inside the Haven Center in Lorain. A jury found him not guilty of those charges.

“It was frustrating,” Carpentiere said. “We weren’t lucky enough to have DNA evidence and it was the children’s word against his. Those cases are always difficult to try and we lost and he came back and molested a child. At least in this case, there is better evidence.”

Daniels Sr. is in the Lorain County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
