ST. JOHN’S COUNTY, Fla. — A north Florida man is in jail after he called 911 to get a ride to a liquor store. Officers in St. Johns County arrested 57-year-old George McMurrian, who even claimed that the sheriff offered to give him a ride.

“OK, you’re going to have to call somebody else, sir. You called 911. We can’t come give you a ride,” the dispatcher told McMurrian.

“Even the sheriff said she’d give me a ride,” he told the dispatcher.

“The sheriff said they’d give you a ride to the liquor store?” the dispatcher questioned.

“That’s correct,” McMurrian replied.

“Wrong,” replied the dispatcher.

However, officers did end up giving McMurrian a ride to jail. He’s charged with misusing 911.
