Man arrested in beating of Tampa store clerk

February 3rd, 2011 by Staff – A man who punched and kicked a clerk an estimated 35 times was arrested Wednesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sandro Louis Sarda, 30, allegedly beat up a store clerk on Jan. 21 at the Mobile 1, 13164 N. Florida Ave., the sheriff’s office said.

Sarda was arrested Wednesday afternoon at 13539 N. Florida Ave., according to jail records. He had shaved his head and his goatee to change his appearance, the sheriff’s office said.

Sarda has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held at a Hillsborough County jail with bail set at $7,500.

On Jan. 21, Sarda walked into the convenience store. As he walked to a display case, the clerk walked behind him and gestured for him to leave.

But Sarda took a canned drink from the display case and then started to fight with the clerk. Sarda broke open the Four Loco drink on the side of the victim’s head. He then continued to punch and kick the man, the sheriff’s office said.

The clerk suffered facial injuries and lost some teeth, the sheriff’s office said.
