Lawyer: Cummings Will Likely Agree To Plea Deal

PALATKA – The father of missing Putnam County girl Haleigh Cummings is set to stand trial on drug-trafficking charges on July 19, but his lawyer says Ronald Cummings will likely agree to a plea deal before then.

Attorney Terry Shoemaker said Cummings, 26, will likely agree to plead to three of five charges in exchange for his testimony at the possible trials of his ex-wife and her brother.

The sentencing range would likely be a 15-year minimum mandatory with a possible 30-year maximum.

Shoemaker said the two most serious trafficking charges against Cummings would be dropped.

He hopes to have the deal worked out by July 1, and said Cummings wouldn’t be sentenced until Misty and Hank Croslin’s cases go to trial.
