Jury: McTear not guilty

www.myfoxtampabay.com – A jury has found Richard McTear not guilty on two charges of battery.

The verdict came down shortly after 3 p.m.

McTear is charged with killing an infant by tossing him out of the window of a moving car.

This trial, though, was not on the murder charges. Rather, he was on trial for battery charges prosecutors hoped would eventually land him on death row.

Yesterday, Jasmine Bedwell testified about a March 31 confrontation that she says left her beaten on the floor, months before her baby was tossed out a car window onto the interstate.

Prosecutors said he also battered another woman during that incident. He was found not guilty on both battery charges.

The trial on the charges of killing the infant is expected to take place later this summer.
