Indianapolis woman allegedly disfigures son’s girlfriend with acid
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WHAS11) — A woman’s addiction leaves an Indiana teen disfigured, likely for life. A 40-year-old grandmother is accused of tossing acid on her son’s girlfriend. Jessica Burns, 19, had come home from the hospital Friday after hurting her knee. She says her boyfriend’s mother, Angela Paterson, a long time pill addict, demanded Burns’ pain medication in exchange for Burns staying in her house. Burns says that sent Paterson into a rage. She explains “She grabbed acid from on top of the refrigerator, reached over his shoulder and squirted it all over my face.”
Paterson’s son says “All of a sudden I saw my mom’s arm come over my shoulder and I seen a stream, and I heard screaming.”
Police say the mother threw gold-testing acid at the teen. She was arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated battery and criminal recklessness. However, Paterson denied the allegations and told police that Burns must have thrown the acid on herself.
