www.dailymail.co.uk – A six-year-old boy, who told police he had been hungry and wanted to go and buy food, crashed his mother’s minivan after attempting to drive it to the shops.
The boy from Klamath Falls, Oregon, who has not been named, crashed into several postboxes yesterday before swerving into the opposite lane and smashing into a Dodge pickup truck.
Luckily it was a slow-speed crash and the boy was not hurt. The driver of the pickup, Tammy Belau, suffered minor injuries.
Authorities said the boy had taken a roll of pennies from his home before swiping the minivan’s car keys and heading to the shops.
He only got around a tenth of a mile down the road before losing control.
Twenty-nine-year-old Belau, from Klamath Falls, said at first she thought it had been a drunk driver heading towards her, but was then amazed to see the six-year-old standing on the driver’s seat so he could see over the dashboard.
State police and the Department of Human Services were continuing to investigate the crash.
