ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Tamara Sams describes the fight as “a war.”

The St. Augustine woman says a disagreement between a few people erupted into a giant fight on Wednesday night. It happened in the middle of Aiken Street.

“It was crazy,” says Sams.

According to an offense report from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, about 50 people scattered when deputies arrived to break up the fight. Some people had weapons including knives, rocks and hammers. According to the report, one person poured bleach on the crowd.

Sams says there was no big reason for the fight. In the offense report, a deputy wrote that no one was arrested because “no one could offer an account of the altercation that was believable and without yelling and dramatizing the situation.”

Some people were treated for injuries from the fight.
