Update: Tampa, Fl – Matthew Moye is out of jail after making his first appearance Sunday morning at the Falkenberg Jail in Hillsborough County. The judge set his bond at $119,000.00.

Earlier Story (10-30-10):

Tampa, Florida – Two people are dead and another hurt after an early morning DUI crash in Tampa, according to Tampa police.

Detectives say 34 year old Matthew R. Moye, a dentist, was driving onto the bridge to Harbour Island at a high rate of speed around 2 a.m. Saturday when he lost control of the 2011 Cadillac SUV he was driving and crossed into the left lane slamming into two people who were walking on the sidewalk.

A third person who was walking with them, 48 year old Joao Armando Fonseca Barbosa, injured his ankle when he jumped out of the way.

Investigators say 24-year-old Kate D. Kohlier, a USF student, died on the scene and, 23-year-old Douglas J. Kozar who was pushed over the guardrail and into a planter, died in the ambulance.

Kohlier graduated from Largo High School in 2004 according to her Facebook page.

Investigators say Kohlier, Kozar and Barbosa were all leaving work at the Marriott Waterside when the crash happened.

Firefighters pulled Dr. Moye and his wife Kelly, who is an operations manager at Big Bend Dental, out of the vehicle. There was also another passenger in the backseat but that person’s name has not been released. None of them were injured.

Dr. Moye is a dentist at Big Bend Dental at 13122 Vail Ridge Drive in Riverview. He is charged with two counts of Vehicular Homicide, two counts of DUI Manslaughter, and DUI with injury.

His wife Kelly was arrested for DUI back in June.

I work across the street at the Embassy Suites and to have 2 die needlessly, well, its tough. My condolences go out to the families, friends and coworkers as this happened so close to work as well.
Please Bubba, I do hope that generosity can come through for the familes here. You have shown the ability to help others on crisises before. That has been one quality of yours I have truly admired. I hope you are able to do this again.

It has been almost three weeks since this senseless murder and we have yet to see blood alcohol and drug results from this monster published. Is this going to be another cover up for his behavior, like the 5 prior tickets he received and waved adjudication on. Is Matthew Moye going to pay his fines and get his hand slapped once again and go on with his life? He is back working in his office as the “good Dentist” and has no clue of the pain and suffering he is causing people. They need to put him away for a very long time and throw away the key…..He never should enjoy another minute of the good life in his big time cadillacs and state of the art dental facillity in Riverwiew and ocean front living quarters. He needs to spend the rest of his life in a cell thinking about the two special lives he destroyed. The highest performing fastest cadillac ever made??? What for Moye? To rack up 5 speeding tickets and to be big man driving 80 mph in a city and mowing down innocent children…..You should be the one buried, not these innocent children…..
