Gov. Rick Scott meets protesters during Walmart visit

ORLANDO, Fla. — Governor Rick Scott’s visit to an Orlando-area Walmart to promote the state’s back-to-school tax holiday has been met with a handful of hecklers and protesters.

Scott’s promotion of the popular money-saving event included a stop at the retail chain Friday to buy items off the school supplies lists of three area schools.

Beginning Friday and concluding Sunday Florida shoppers won’t pay sales tax on clothing items costing $75 or less and school supplies costing $15 or less.

During the visit, protesters wearing PinkSlipRick.com T-shirts walked near the governor as he browsed the aisles purchasing items.

Later, Scott didn’t respond when a local teacher shouted a question, asking him if it was true that he’d never visited a public school.
