First cast photo of new ‘Dallas’ series released; TNT will air preview on Monday night
“Dallas” is returning to television — and here is the first photo.
Although the series won’t air until next summer, TNT has released a picture of the cast, which in addition to original stars Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray, also includes “Desperate Housewives” actors Jesse Metcalfe, Brenda Strong and Josh Henderson, “Fast Five” beauty Jordana Brewster and Julie Gonzalo from “Veronica Mars.”
Also, this Monday night, TNT will air a preview of “Dallas” during the season premieres of its shows “The Closer” and “Rizzoli & Isles.”
“TNT has explored the possibility of an updated version of Dallas for several years, but it wasn’t until we read Cynthia Cidre’s outstanding pilot script that we knew we had the foundation for a great new series,” said Michael Wright, head of programming for TNT. “It is incredibly exciting to see both new and familiar characters in the hands of a dream cast.
Ten episodes have been ordered for “Dallas,” which initially aired on CBS from 1978 to 1991.
The show centered around the Ewing family, who control a cattle and oil dynasty in Southfork Ranch, Tex., and its scheming members: J.R. (Hagman), his wife Sue Ellen (Gray) and younger brother Bobby (Duffy).
The new version will focus on the Ewing’s offspring, according to TNT.
Henderson will play J.R.’s son John Ross and Metcalfe will be Bobby’s adopted son Christopher. The two will not only clash over the dynasty’s future, but also for the affections of Elena (Brewster.)
