Dear Mayor Foster,

It has come to my attention that City Administrator Goliath Davis attended the funeral of murderer Hydra Lacy Jr. This is disrespectful to our heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty. His attendance reflects poorly on his position as a public servant with the City of Saint Petersburg. Citizens of Saint Petersburg were horrified by the actions of Hydra Lacy Jr. and Mr. Davis paying his respect to Hydra Lacy Jr. is simply unacceptable.

I implore you, as a tax paying citizen of Saint Petersburg, to remove Mr. Davis from his position. As a city we need to send the message that people who commit violent acts against police officers will not be glorified.

Thank you for your attention in this very important matter. I look forward to your response.

I was deeply deeply affected by the events of Jan. 24, 2011 and think it disgraceful that a former chief of that department would attend the murderers funeral. There is no justification for this. I want answers and I want action.

I am a former New York City Paramedic, who left NY due in part to my exposure at the World Trade Center on 9/11/01. I opened a restaurant here in Channelside, Precinct Pizza, and got to know many police officers here who have been killed recently in the line of duty. i say this because i wanted you to know that i am behind you 100% on this Goliath Davis issue. he should be removed from his position with the city, and i have sent an email to the Mayor stating this as well. I applaud you for saying what you did this morning, and hope you keep up the presure.

I added this to the email:

I would also ask you to look at this man, Goliath Davis, and ask yourself the question – is this the type of person that you want representing your city? He has aligned himself with the Nation of Islam and has Malcom X qualities about his character. It is clear to me that he did not attend the fallen officers funeral because they were white. If they would have been black, would he have been there? He is a racist. He does not need to be in any position within your fine city. It is time for change and I hope you will do the right thing by the citizens of your city and make the change that is desperately needed.

Goliath Davis was a great police chief while in office and has done commendable work as a city administrator. He wasnt paying respects to Hydra Lacy Jr, he was paying respect to the Lacy family. The Lacy family has truly been beneficial to the city of St Petersburg, from donations, community service and numerous other issues. Davis lost his bestfriend in the line of duty 30 years ago and vowed he’d never attend another officers funeral…calling this man a racist is wrong!!!
