Disney World Gay Days Come to a Close

June 7th, 2010 by

(06/07/2010) – Orlando, California – The 20th Annual Gay Days Orlando festivities, centrally focused at the Walt Disney World Resort, come to a close today. The celebration of all things Disney by the GLBT community attracted visitors worldwide to the Orlando region, helping to put hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy. The Orlando Doubletree on International Drive, just outside the Disney World property, served as this year’s host hotel and reported fully booked room and convention facilities for the weekend.

The Gay Days Orlando 2010 event began last Thursday, with members of the GLBT community donning red t-shirts to mark their familial status to one another and demonstrate a sign of solidarity. Over the last four days, the group was encouraged to visit one of each of Disney World’s theme parks a day – The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The event concludes today with minor celebratory events at the host hotel.

Over on the west coast, the Gay Days Anaheim crew is preparing for their annual event, which will take place at The Disneyland Resort this fall, October 1-3. For more information on this event, visit gaydaysanaheim.com.
