Deputies to provide escort today for fallen soldier’s body

BRANDON – Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies will escort the body of Army Pfc. Paul O. Cuzzupe II this morning from MacDill Air Force Base to a Brandon funeral home.

The body of the fallen medic will arrive at the Air Force base about 10 a.m., where a ceremony with the family will take place. A procession will leave MacDill about 11 a.m. on the way to Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 W. Brandon Blvd.

The procession will follow the following route from the base:

North on Bayshore Boulevard to Platt Street;

East on Platt to Florida Avenue;

North on Florida to Jackson Street;

East on Jackson to Jefferson Street;

North on Jefferson to Twiggs Street ;

North on Channelside Drive to State Road 60;

East on S.R. 60 to Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home

The sheriff’s office encourages residents to watch the procession to pay honor to Cuzzupe.

Cuzzupe, 23, was killed Aug. 8 in Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. He graduated from Armwood High School in Seffner in 2005. He also attended St. Leo University in Pasco County.

His funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4450 County Road 579, Seffner. He will be buried with full military honors at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.
