‘DeeDee’ Moore charged with first-degree murder

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (Bay News 9) — Dorice “DeeDee” Moore was charged with first-degree murder in the death of lottery winner Abraham Shakespeare.

Moore already faces a charge of accessory to murder after the fact.

Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee announced that detectives added first-degree murder charges Friday night.

The criminal affidavit lists all the reasons detectives believe Moore is the killer. It states that Moore “had a financial motive to kill Abraham Shakespeare and to conceal the truth.”

According to the affidavit, Moore gave the gun that was used to shoot Shakespeare to an undercover detective. The gun, a .38-revolver, belongs to Moore.

The affidavit also says that Moore knew exactly where Shakespeare’s body was buried. Furthermore, it states that Moore tried to pay $50,000 to a man who could find someone to take the blame for Shakespeare’s death.

A spokesperson at Hillsborough County Jail said Moore will appear before a judge at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Detectives say one clue that led to Moore’s initial arrest was her statement that she could never “shoot” anybody.

Although officials determined Shakespeare was shot in the chest, that information was never released to the public, including Moore.

Moore is currently in custody at Orient Road Jail.

The investigation continues.
