Casey Anthony Injured in Courthouse Fall

ORLANDO (CBS/WKMG) Casey Anthony, who is accused of murdering her daughter Caylee, was injured Tuesday in a fall at the Orange County Courthouse in Florida, according to the Orange County Corrections Department.

Orange County Corrections Department spokesman Allen Moore said Anthony fell in the courthouse while being transported to the courtroom and suffered what appeared to be minor injuries. Moore described the incident as “purely an accident.”

Anthony’s restraints became entangled and she fell forward, and escorting officers were unable to catch her, Moore said. Anthony is currently being seen by medical personnel in an undisclosed location.

Orange County Corrections Internal Affairs will conduct a routine inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, Anthony’s attorneys, who have been informed of the incident, are having several motions reconsidered by Judge Belvin Perry.

Perry will reconsider four different motions, including a request made by Anthony’s defense team to throw out the death penalty.

Last month the prosecution laid out their arguments for the death penalty, including that the murder of little Caylee was committed during the commission of another crime, in this case aggravated child abuse, with which she is also charged. At the time the judge ruled that Casey Anthony would face the death penalty if convicted of both charges.

Anthony’s defense team will also request that the court compel the prosecution to turn over forensic documents, including results from tests performed on evidence gathered in the case. The prosecution has argued that the results are not available. The defense is also expected to argue against the use of certain forensic evidence.

Court officials told CBS affiliate WKMG that the defense team is also asking the court to seal jail visitation logs.

Anthony’s daughter, Caylee, was reported missing in July 2008, a month after Casey claims to have last seen her daughter. Caylee’s remains were found five months later in a wooded area near the Anthony family’s east Orange County, Fla. home.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty to murdering Caylee. Her trial is scheduled for May 2011.
