BP clerk arrested for dealing pot behind counter
DADE CITY, Fla. – More than just gas was for sale at a Pasco County BP location. Authorities arrested one of the clerks for dealing dope while on the job.
In rural Dade City, right off US 301, there is a BP gas station with a barber shop next door. Mandy Mitchell says it’s a nice little spot to work. “Pretty quiet strip mall, lots of country folks come in here. I mean look around at the dead animals (on the wall),” said Mitchell.
Mitchell sees the clerks at the BP almost every day. Including a 25-year-old she knows as Louie. “Yea, he’s a really nice guy.”
Loay Al-Wawi, who is originally from the middle eastern country Jordan, may be a nice guy, but the Sheriff’s Department says he was dealing pot from behind the counter at the BP.
According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, an undercover officer bought more than 29 grams of marijuana from Al-Wawi in exchange for $120.
The officer even says Al-Wawi used a digital scale at the counter to make sure the amount of pot was right.
Al-Wawi was arrested at the gas station Tuesday. He’s even wearing his BP shirt in the mug shot. He is charged with three counts apiece of selling and possessing marijuana.
The owner of the gas station called it a stupid act by a young person, even though Al-Wawi is a family friend, he won’t be working there anymore. The owner said he had no idea drugs were being sold from his store.
Mitchell was surprised, too. “I wouldn’t except something like that to happen,” she said.
