Attorney Against Gov’s Attempt To Cancel Pill Mills Crackdown

March 3rd, 2011 by Staff

ORLANDO, Fla. – State Attorney Lawson Lamar is speaking out in Orlando on Wednesday about Gov. Rick Scott’s attempt to cancel a program meant to crack down on pill mills.
The governor claims the database that tracks how many prescription drugs are dispensed is an invasion of privacy and a waste of money.
Lamar and other local supporters will hold a news conference at 3:00pm Wednesday to defend keeping the program.
Meanwhile, new restrictions on pain clinics are now in effect in Lake County. The county commission passed an ordinance that put a one-year ban on the opening of any new pain management clinics.
The hours of operation at clinics have also been limited, and those clinics are not allowed to take cash as a payment. Orlando and Orange County have both passed similar rules.
