NASHUA, N.H. — New Hampshire authorities say a 16-year-old Nashua High School student is charged with assault after he allegedly hit a substitute teacher in the face with a three-hole paper punch.

The incident happened Wednesday in a math class in Nashua. The teacher, whose name wasn’t released, suffered two broken bones in his face.

Schools Superintendent Mark Conrad says other students in the class came to the teacher’s aid, pulling the teen off him. The boy, whose name wasn’t released, was arrested near school grounds and charged with assault.

WMUR-TV reports that the school made counselors available to students who saw the attack, and has reached out to students’ families. Conrad says it was an isolated incident.
