Source: BND.com — Someone stole an injured Kansas City man’s $1,200 bicycle as he was on the ground being treated by paramedics after being hit by a car.

The theft was captured on a police car’s dash camera as firefighters milled around a fire truck only a few feet from where the bicycle was stolen.

Mike Hardy was on the way to his girlfriend’s house Saturday to celebrate his 27th birthday when he was struck by a car. KMBC reports that Hardy and his friends had worked to build the perfect racing bike, which Hardy used to compete in races.

Video footage shows three men standing by the bicycle, which had been propped up against a tree, before testing it to see if it was still working. One of the men then picks the bike up and nonchalantly carries it away.

Hardy injured one kneecap and broke the other in several places.
