Sarasota Police seek credit card fraud suspect
(BTLS Staff) SARASOTA, Fla. – Authorities in Sarasota County are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect that used a stolen credit card to make a purchase.
The fraudulent transactions occurred on January 31st at two locations in the 4000 block of South Tamiami Trail. Click here to see surveillance video of the suspect.
According to a Sarasota Police Department report the victim contacted detectives on the day of the crimes to report he had lost his credit card. When he called his bank he discovered several unauthorized purchases on his statement.
The victim believes he lost the card somewhere in Sarasota.
Surveillance images from a Walgreens location show the suspect walking into and then out of the business on the day the victim reported the card missing.
The card was also used at a nearby Best Buy location.
Investigators say the suspect was last seen carrying a large, black backpack. He was wearing gray sweatpants, a jacket with dark trim at the wrists, white sneakers, glasses and a dark blue Dallas Cowboys hat with a large ‘star’ logo on the front of it.
The man was last seen leaving the store on foot.
