Rutgers football player arrested in Bradenton on robbery charges

(WFTS.COM) BRADENTON, Fla. – A Rutgers football player was one of two men arrested Sunday morning on robbery charges.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery victim was riding his bicycle in the 1600 block of University Parkway. Trazelle Johnson and Rutgers defensive back Darian Dailey allegedly stopped the victim and confronted him with a handgun.

They demanded his money and the victim handed it to them. Johnson and Dailey left in a vehicle but not before the victim got the tag number. He gave the information to the Sheriff’s Office and the two were arrested in Manatee County.

They are currently booked in the Manatee County Jail. Both are charged with robbery with a firearm. They will appear before a judge this morning in Manatee County.

Rutgers head couch Kyle Flood issued the following statement:

We are aware of the situation and are gathering facts. Once those facts are gathered, we will take the appropriate action.

Dailey played high school football at Manatee High in Bradenton.
