Pregnant woman, man killed when SUV slams into Palmetto mobile home

The incident occurred just after 2:30 am Wednesday at the Lone Oak RV Park.


(BTLS Staff) PALMETTO, Fla. – A pregnant woman and a man were killed early Wednesday when a Sports Utility Vehicle slammed into a mobile home in Manatee County.

The incident occurred just after 2:30 am at the Lone Oak RV park in the 100 block of 10th St. West near the US 301 intersection in Palmetto.

According to a Palmetto Police Department report a Chevrolet driven by 35-year-old Christian Crawford of Bradenton was traveling north on 10th St. West when the SUV crossed the median and the southbound lanes of the roadway. After crashing through a fence the vehicle struck a residence located on lot #108.

The two residents – who were sleeping at the time – were killed on impact the report states. The female resident was close to full term in her pregnancy. The unborn child did not survive.

Crawford suffered non, life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Manatee Memorial Hospital. It is not yet known if impairment played a role in the crash as the investigation continues.

The names of the deceased have been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
