Port Charlotte man arrested on cocaine trafficking charges
(BTLS Staff) PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – A 44-year-old Port Charlotte man is facing a variety of drug-related charges following his arrest Tuesday by deputies with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.
Ronald Dwayne Edmond is being held without bond at the Charlotte County Jail.
According to a CCSO report the department’s SWAT Team assisted in the operation at a residence in the 18000 block of Ebb Ave. A search warrant was executed in response to a tip about cocaine at the home.
Edmond was in the home with two adults and a juvenile when deputies arrived. During a search of the residence more than 82 grams of cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, five methadone pills and several mixing bowls with traces of illegal narcotics.
They also found approximately $4,000 in cash. Edmond was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of methadone, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect is no stranger to law enforcement in Charlotte County. Edmond has several arrests in the area over the past decade on a variety of charges including drug possession and failure to appear in court.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
