Tomescu, 19, was captured installing the device via surveillance cameras installed at the bank.

(BTLS Staff) DAVENPORT, Fla. – Authorities in Polk County are asking for the public’s assistance in tracking down a 19-year-old Hollywood, Florida man on scheming to defraud charges.

Alexandru Tomescu was captured on surveillance video installing a ‘skimmer’ on a bank’s ATM machine in Davenport earlier this year.

According to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office report a bank employee found the device and called investigators. The skimmer was immediately removed and the probe began.

Detectives say no customer information was compromised due to the fact the device was removed before the suspect could retrieve it. Surveillance video obtained from the bank showed an unknown white mail installing the device.

He was later identified as Tomescu, who was arrested in Osceola County in February for a similar crime. He was also charged with a drug-related crime the report states.

If you have any information on the suspect’s location please contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at 863-298-6200. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477.
