Polk Sheriff Grady Judd says one man 'accidentally' downloaded a child porn image 18 times.

(WFTS.COM) LAKELAND, Fla. – Investigators say Nicholas LaFauce, who lives with his parents in Lakeland,  told them he accidentally downloaded child pornography.

“When our forensic detective went into his computer, we found out he had this accident on 18 different occasions,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

One by one, Judd went over the circumstances behind their latest child porn round up that led to 12 arrests.

There was Robert Droz, who had a Hello Kitty plate on his car.

And Tracey Brown, who deputies said told them he wanted to correct his behavior and asked for just a warning.

“And he was concerned that this would interfere with his relationship with his church,” Judd said.

According to the sheriff, Brian Neubrand had images involving 1- and 2-year-olds and tried to destroy evidence.

“We found five burned hard drives, in a fire pit in his backyard,” Judd said.

Not all the suspects ended up going to jail.

One of them, David Cahill, shot himself when deputies showed up at his door, Judd said.

“Rather than answer to the criminal justice system, he decided to answer to his maker,” Judd said.

The sheriff said research shows those who look at child porn have or will have inappropriate contact with children.

Among others arrested, there is Navy veteran Johnny Emmons, who communicated with 12-year-old girls through the Kik messenging app.

And Angel Mangual, who the sheriff says actually solicited a woman he knew asking through Facebook to have sex with her 3-year-old son.

“These aren’t normal people. Not one of these people are normal,” Judd said.

The sheriff says they will continue going over the computers and cellphones they confiscated looking for more evidence, and doing what they can to track down any of the children involved.
