Polk deputies arrest pair for committing lewd acts in public park
(BTLS Staff) LAKELAND, Fla. – A pair of Lakeland men are facing sex charges following their arrests Thursday during an undercover operation.
Michael Shetter, 69, and Gary Hoover, 58, were booked into the Polk County Jail and released after posting bond.
According to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office report deputies with the department’s Vice Initiative conducted a sting at three parks in the area – Saddle Creek, Homeland and Gator Creek Preserve. PCSO was responding to recent complaints about indecent activity on the grounds.
Both men were also issued trespass warnings for all Polk County parks.
“We keep sending out the message to those who use our family friendly parks to commit lewd acts,” explained Polk Sheriff Grady Judd. “We aren’t going to tolerate it. We will continue to monitor our county parks and recreational facilities to ensure the safety of our citizens and for those who don’t get the message, we are happy to give you a free ride to the county jail.”
Shetter, a Lakeland resident, is facing one count of committing lewdness in public. He posted a bond of $250.
Hoover, also a resident of Lakeland, exposed himself to an undercover deputy. He also committed a lewd act and touched the undercover officer the report states. He was charged with one count of indecent exposure, one count of offering to commit lewdness and one count of battery.
Hoover told investigators that he is married and works at an antique dealership in Dade City. He was released from the Polk County Jail after posting a bond of $1,250.
